Whether a month, a week or even just a day, taking the time to recognize a rare disease, condition or syndrome is important.
According to the U.S. Census Bureau, in 2010 nearly 1 in 5, or approximately 56.7 million people, had a disability.
The numbers are staggering, and as such mean that disabilities touch the lives of so many, whether children or adults, rich or poor. By taking the time to recognize the disability, we also recognize the basic humanity of each and every person and thank them for the contributions that they bring.
And so we take the time to honor those who, despite their disability, grow, thrive and contribute to the world and everyone around them. We invite you to do the same.
