Learn all about the Unity language system, available on the Accent 800, 1000 or 1400. This product training will provide participants with an overview of vocabulary options. Participants will be introduced to Unity 1-hit, where they will practice saying single words and simple phrases, after which the focus will shift to Unity Sequenced.  They will learn the 5 patterns of Unity Sequenced as well as strategies that support implementation including temporarily limiting vocabulary with Vocabulary Builder.

This is a hands-on training and an Accent device or laptop is required. Please bring an Accent 800, 1000, or 1400 with the most current software version available. Participants can bring a laptop computer pre-loaded with PASS demo software for Accent. If you want to use a Mac laptop you will need a Windows emulator with PASS installed. PASS software is not compatible with iPads.

2. Use the 5 patterns of Unity Sequenced to construct phrases and sentences.
3. Name two strategies and two resources to help implement Unity.

• 10 minutes - Introduction and Housekeeping

10 minutes - Overview of Vocabulary Options with Guiding Principles

20 minutes - Overview and Practice with Unity 1-hit

30 minutes -  Unity Sequenced Pattern 1: Learn the location of verbs, adjectives, adverbs and Category nouns.  Practice words and phrases.

20 minutes - Unity Sequenced Pattern 2: Learn the location of nouns.  Practice words and phrases.

15 minutes - Unity Sequenced Pattern 3:Learn the location of pronouns (subject, object, reflexive, possessive adjective, and possessive noun). Practice words and phrases.

15 minutes - Unity Sequenced Pattern 4:  Learn pronoun phrases (positive and negative statements, positive and negative questions).  Practice phrases.

20 minutes - Unity Sequenced Pattern 5:  Learn closed-class parts of speech (helping verbs, interjections, determiners, conjunctions, prepositions, question words and lexical adverbs). Practice words and phrases.

20 minutes - Temporarily limiting vocabulary in Unity Sequenced with Vocabulary Builder.

20 minutes - Strategies for teaching Unity.  Resources and support.
