Course Requirements

This class focuses on how to make language instruction explicit, systematic, and relevant for students who use AAC. It begins by reviewing the relationship between academic standards, curriculum, and lesson plans. Then you will learn about  the four areas of communicative competence: linguistic, operational, social, and strategic. After this class, you will be able to:

  • Describe the relationship between an academic standard, a curriculum, and a lesson plan
  • Briefly describe each communication competency
  • Create a monthly planning guide based on the communication competencies
