Melissa is a speech-language pathologist who has worked in a variety of clinical settings, always with a special interest in augmentative and alternative communication. She has a passion for working directly with families and caregivers, by providing functional activities to improve the daily communication skills for individuals using AAC.
Melissa completed her Doctorate of Clinical Science in Speech-Language Pathology from Rocky Mountain University of Health Professions, where she completed and presented nationally on her research involving caregiver training in AAC. She earned her Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees at Clarion University of Pennsylvania.
Melissa holds the Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) and a state license in Speech-Language Pathology from the State of Washington. She is a member of ASHA’s Special Interest Division 12 (AAC Division) and the International Society for Augmentative and Alternative Communication (ISAAC).
