Putting Symbols Together

  • Become a good model. - AAC speakers learn from a good example.
  • Teach and learn the patterns, then the specifics.
    • The icon sequences are based on patterns and categories. Many sequences are transparent, or guessable, once you establish the pattern for that type of word. When the communicator learns to put symbols together to produce words, phrases, and sentences, they are on their way to independent communication without limitations.
