This one-hour implementation class will provide training in effective report writing strategies for securing speech-generating devices (SGDs) from various funding sources. Participants will learn about the various funding sources available that will fund SGDs, as well as the report writing requirements for those funding sources. Participants will also learn strategies for responding to deferrals or denials of SGD funding from the various funding sources.
This is a beginner class intended for those who are new to the field of AAC and conducting evaluations.
Beth earned her Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees in Communicative Disorders from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Beth gained valuable experience in the areas of augmentative communication and assistive technology while working at the Communication Aids and Systems Clinic, CASC, at the University of Wisconsin, and then as an educational speech-language pathologist in the Minnesota Public School system. Beth continued to focus her career in the areas of augmentative communication and assistive technology when she moved to California and worked for The Assistive Technology Exchange Center, ATEC, in Santa Ana, CA. Upon returning to the Midwest, Beth began her employment with PRC as Regional Consultant for Minnesota, Wisconsin, and North Dakota. After taking some time away from PRC to focus on her children, Beth returned to PRC and is now working as a Speech Language Pathologist in the Funding Department as the PRC Medicare Report Reviewer.
Beth holds the Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA), a state license in Speech-Language Pathology from the State of Minnesota.
