LAMP Words for Life for Accent: Vocabulary Review, Programming and Basic Implementation - 5 hour

PRC believes in providing single words for novel communication.  In this five-hour product training participants will learn about LAMP Words for Life (WFL) as well as programming, customizing, and basic implementation of the vocabulary. The difference between LAMP and LAMP WFL will be discussed as well as the three levels of LAMP WFL: 84 1-hit, 84 transition and 84 full.  The first segment will provide hands-on practice with the vocabulary.  The second segment will cover Word Finder, Vocabulary Builder, customizing and adding words. The third section will review basic implementation strategies to get someone talking with LAMP WFL on an Accent.  A variety of tools and strategies for teaching LAMP WFL will be reviewed. Hands-on practice is encouraged throughout the course, so come prepared to learn and practice.

Please note, this training is intended for those who are using the LAMP WFL on an Accent product.   This training is not for those using the LAMP WFL app on an iPad. This training briefly discusses the LAMP approach, but it is not a LAMP training.  To learn about the LAMP approach, please visit http://www.aacandautism.com.

Devices for this training are not required as the site is providing computers.  If you choose to bring a device or laptop computer, please bring an Accent 1400/1200/1000/800 with the latest software version or laptop computer pre-loaded with the appropriate PASS software.  If you want to use a Mac laptop you will need a Windows 7 emulator with PASS installed.  PASS software is not compatible with iPads.  Please update Accent device software to the current version.

This training is appropriate for SLPs, OTs, ATPs, educators, family members, and others who support individuals who currently use or may need to use a PRC device.

Tracy Custer, M. Ed., SLP

Tracy received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Speech, Hearing and Language Disorders for the University of Texas-El Paso and her Masters of Education in Computers in Education from Lesley College, Cambridge, MA. Tracy also completed Master Level course work in Speech and Language Pathology at the University of Texas - El Paso/ Austin.

Tracy worked as a speech language pathologist and special educator in the public schools prior to being employed at the Prentke Romich Company. Tracy has presented at many state and local conferences on topics relating to language and augmentative communication.

Tracy is licensed in Speech Pathology in Texas and is certified in all levels of Speech and Hearing Therapy; as well as holding an Early Childhood Endorsement from the Texas Education Agency. Tracy is a member of Texas Speech and Hearing Association (TSHA), San Antonio Speech and Hearing Association (SASHLA), and a member of the International Society for Augmentative and Alternative Communication (ISAAC). Over the years she has served on numerous boards and committees addressing AAC policies and services.

Submission Deadlines

Live online classes:  Participants wanting ASHA CEUs must be registered, "join" the class through his/her unique confirmation email letter, participate for the entire duration of the class, and pass a post-test with 80% accuracy or higher. No partial credits will be submitted. Participants have 15 days to submit all ASHA paperwork to PRC. ASHA paperwork received after 15 days will not be accepted.

In-person classes:  All ASHA paperwork must be submitted to the presenter by the end of the training day.


ASHA Information

Participants wanting ASHA CEUs for a multiple day training must attend all days. In addition, if there is a registration fee associated with the class and payment is not received, PRC will not submit your request for ASHA CEUs.

An annual ASHA CE Registry fee is required to register ASHA CEUs. ASHA CE Registry fees are paid by the participant directly to the ASHA National Office. The annual ASHA CE Registry fee allows registration of an unlimited number of ASHA CEUs for the calendar year.
