In this two-hour block on augmentative alternative communication (AAC), participants will learn tools to help determine the language level of the person who uses AAC and how to write relevant goals and deliver meaningful activities. To help determine language level and AAC usage, participants will learn about a classroom screener, a communication forms/functions checklist and Realize Language™. Once current language level and AAC usage are defined, relevant goals can be written. This class will review goal writing for speaking, reading and writing. The class will conclude by reviewing how to deliver goal driven activities in a motivating and meaningful way. Through demonstration, video and practice exercises, participants will learn about the fundamentals of AAC intervention.
This class is intended for anyone interested in learning about the fundamentals of AAC.
