Language learning occurs in steps. As a communication partner, you are crucial to helping your AAC learner develop language and communication. But once they learn the basics of communication, what’s next?  How do we teach them to use more than simple one to three word phrases? How do we teach them pragmatic functions of communication? Join us for that next step: Another Stepping Stone. We will explore simple steps to help you and your child learn to communicate beyond simple phrases, with a focus on targeting functions of communication during everyday activities.

During this session we will outline these steps while playing games with family and friends. Join us for an interactive session to help you and your child step into AAC.

Learner Outcomes: 

1. Identify core words to target based on a communicative function
2. Learn strategies to prompt use of core words in 4-5 word phrases or sentences
3. Practice modeling responses using core words
