Basic Programming for All PRC Devices - 3 hour

This product training focuses on basic programming and operations of any PRC device (Accent® 800/1000/1400, PRiO® or legacy devices). The class will start out with an overview of language systems. Then participants will learn how to: choose a vocabulary, change the voice, set the access method, add vocabulary and messages, add photos, temporarily limit vocabulary, disable the toolbox and perform a memory transfer to back up device contents. In addition, participants will learn about basic care, maintenance, resources and support.

A PRC Accent device or laptop is required for this training. Please bring an Accent 800, 1000, 1200 or 1400 running the latest version of software. Participants can bring a laptop computer pre-loaded with PASS demo software and the appropriate language system. If you want to use a Mac laptop you will need a Windows 7 or higher emulator with PASS installed. PASS software is not compatible with iPads. This is not an iPad training.

This training is appropriate for SLPs, OTs, ATPs, educators, family members, and others who support individuals who currently use or may need to use PRC devices.

Cordelia (Cory) Peters, M.S., CCC-SLP

Cordelia (Cory) earned her Bachelor's degree from Virginia Tech, and completed her Masters of Science in Communication Sciences and Disorders at James Madison University in 2010. Cory has worked as a clinical Speech-Language Pathologist initially in the inpatient acute care setting working with patients with stroke, traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injuries and multiple medical complications. She later transitioned to the outpatient neurological rehabilitation setting in 2013, and developed and implemented  AAC evaluations and treatments within her hospital based outpatient clinic. Cory specializes in treatment and evaluation of adults with TBI, CVA and other neurological conditions causing cognitive, speech,language and swallowing deficits. She has recently expanded practice into AAC evaluations for pediatric patients with autism, CP and other neurological based deficits. Additionally she has presented at local, state, and national conferences related to the practice of AAC. Cory holds the Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA), and a state license in Speech-Language Pathology from the State of Maryland.

Financial: Cordelia Peters is contracted by the Prentke Romich Company.

Nonfinancial: Cordelia Peters receives PRC loaner devices to use for her trainings and presentations. Cordelia is licensed as a Speech-Language Pathologist in the State of Maryland and holds the Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA).

Submission Deadlines

Live online classes:  Participants wanting ASHA CEUs must be registered, "join" the class through his/her unique confirmation email letter, participate for the entire duration of the class, and pass a post-test with 80% accuracy or higher. No partial credits will be submitted. Participants have 15 days to submit all ASHA paperwork to PRC. ASHA paperwork received after 15 days will not be accepted.

In-person classes:  All ASHA paperwork must be submitted to the presenter by the end of the training day.

Participants wanting ASHA CEUs for a multiple day training must attend all days. In addition, if there is a registration fee associated with the class and payment is not received, PRC will not submit your request for ASHA CEUs.

An annual ASHA CE Registry fee is required to register ASHA CEUs. ASHA CE Registry fees are paid by the participant directly to the ASHA National Office. The annual ASHA CE Registry fee allows registration of an unlimited number of ASHA CEUs for the calendar year. Saltillo presentations will focus exclusively on ChatFusion, NovaChat, TouchChat, VocabPC, MultiChat15, WordPower, TouchChat app, Explore AAC, or TouchChat website.
