Objective
: The student will communicate with others independently and effectively

Target Vocabulary:
Adjectives: more, fast, faster, slow, slower, red, blue, green, yellow, orange, black, white
Interjections: awesome, ha-ha-ha, please, thank you, stop!, go! Yikes, oops
Nouns: car, truck, bus, fire engine, boat, airplane, helicopter, train, space shuttle, motorcycle, tractor, van, jet
Prepositions: up, down, on, off
Verbs: want, need, like, do, turn, help, stop, go, drive, ride, push, pull, blow, win, lose, cheat
Pronoun Phrases: I want, I like, I need, I do, I can, do I?, can I?, I don't want to, I don't like, I don't need, I don't, I can't, do you?, can you?, do you want?, do you like?

Sample Words and Phrases:
What's this one? What do you do with a truck? Name something that goes in the water/air/road, name something that has wheels/wings etc., name three things that go, name four types of vehicles, how are cars and airplanes alike/different?

Activity
:
Create a play town with roads, signs, water, etc. Ride through the town in the toy vehicles. Students in wheelchairs can decorate their chairs to be a specific vehicle.
Conduct a race, allowing students to pretend to be a sportscaster and say which car in leading, which wins, etc.

Adaptations:
Physical Difficulties - Use remote control or battery operated vehicles adapted to a switch.
Limited Abilities - Use a small number of general vehicles. Prompt student to use single words or repeated phrases (eg., "go", "go fast", "go slow")
Greater Abilities - Introduce a small number of vehicles. Prompt students to use phrases and sentences (eg., "I want to go faster")
