Calibrate
From the Eyegaze menu, select the Calibrate Now option.
You see a grey screen. A small circle with a grey dot in the center appears. This is the Calibration Stimulus. Follow the dot with your eyes as it moves around the screen. You will hear a beep each time the stimulus moves.
When the calibration is finished, you will return automatically to the Eyegaze menu.
TIP: For the most accurate calibration, it is recommended that you turn off WiFi and Bluetooth and also close all third party software programs on the Windows side before calibrating.
To Change the Calibration Stimulus
If you have a difficult time following the default calibration stimulus, you can change it to one that may work better for you.
1. In the EYEGAZE MENU select Customize Eyegaze Settings.
2. Select Calibration Settings.
3. Select Stimulus Type.
Point is the default—a small circle with a grey dot in the middle.
Point 2 is circle with a red dot in the middle.
Tip: If you select a Point, you can also select a Pointer Color.
Cross shows a small cross on the calibration screen.
Image allows you select an icon or other image as the stimulus. Note: An icon or image is helpful if the user has difficulty looking at a specific point or is better motivated by a personal image.
4. You can change the Stimulus Size.
This increases or decreases the size of the point, cross or icon/image. The smaller the point or image, the more accurate the calibration.
5. You can turn the Stimulus Sound Off or On.
“Sound” refers to the beep you hear as the stimulus moves around the display.
YES = ON and NO = OFF. The default is YES.
All of the Calibration Settings options are explained in Calibration Settings.
When you have selected a stimulus and any other options you want, select OK, and then select Calibrate Now and try again.
When your calibration is completed, select OK to exit the Eyegaze Menu.
Select GO TO HOME in the Toolbox to go to your CORE or HOME page and begin to use eyegaze.
If You Are Having Problems Using the System
Some of the eyegaze settings in the Profile you selected may not be exactly right for you. You can customize these settings for you own use.
Go to the Toolbox and select the ACCESS METHOD MENU.
Select Eyegaze.
Select Customize Eyegaze Settings.
Selection Type and Dwell Time are the settings that typically need to be changed.
For explanations of all the options, see the Customize Eyegaze Settings Article.
Tip: While you are learning to use the NuEye tracking system, we recommend that you take frequent breaks to rest your eyes and to relax your concentration.
Note: Be aware that certain lighting and reflections can also effect the use of the NuEye. Items such as a glass top desk, white counter top, or even fluorescent lighting can hinder accuracy.
