Installing the Bluetooth Expansion Module in Vantage Lite.

Bluetooth Module and hardware.

The Bluetooth Expansion Module is a very small circuit board with very small screws.
You will need a small Phillips screwdriver.

First you will remove the Battery Door and the Battery Pack from your device. This
makes it easier to insert the Bluetooth Module and to retrieve screws if you drop them.

This shows the removal of the battery door screws.

Unscrew and remove the two screws on the top of the battery door.

This shows the battery door lifted for removal.

Lift up on the Battery Door until it is perpendicular to the device, then lift it off.

Note:  You may need to use your screwdriver or a small lever of some kind to boost the battery door out of the enclosure

This shows the battery door removed from the VTL.

You see the battery pack in your device.

This shows the battery connector getting unplugged.

Disconnect the battery pack by gently pulling on the wires until the white plug comes out of the case. When the batteries are disconnected lift the battery pack out of the case and set it aside.

Removing the Infrared door.

Remove the screws that hold the IR window to the case and lift the window off the case.

Bluetooth module connector

Hold the module so that the side with the connector on it is facing toward you.

This shows the module installed.

Line up the connector on the module with the connector inside the case. The small cutouts on each side of the module will fit around the gold-colored board spacers.

Seating the Module in the device.

Push down gently on the module until it snaps into place on the connector.

Installing the module.

Find the screws that came with your module. Insert the screws into the gold board spacers on each side of the module. Tighten the screws.

Screwing down the module.

If you have difficulty inserting or tightening the small screws in such a small space, try placing the screw on the end of the screwdriver and then wrapping a piece of tape around them to hold the screw in place until you get it threaded.

Helpful Hint

Replace the IR window and tighten the screws.

This shows the IR window being re-installed.

Reinstall your battery pack, making sure the label side is up.

This shows the correct direction in which to plug the battery connector in.

The battery pack plug will only go into the connector one way—the small ridges on the plug must face toward you as you insert it into the connector.

This shows the new battery installed and plugged in.

Plug in the new battery pack.

Press the battery pack wires down behind the battery so they do not interfere when you screw the battery door on.

Fit the tabs on the door into the case so that the door is perpendicular to the case.

This shows the battery tabs installed in the bottom of the battery case.

Now lower the door flat against the case.

This shows the door being reattached with the screws.

Replace and tighten the battery door screws.
