Mounting the ECOpoint to your ECO Device.

Extremely Important—Before You Begin

Skip this section if the ECOpoint is already mounted on your ECO-14.

Go to Article 825 to learn about positioning your system and Article 827 to learn about the ECOpoint access method options.

If the ECOpoint is NOT MOUNTED on your ECO-14 you MUST follow the directions below!

This shows how you can find the software version in the ECO.

On your ECO-14, go to the Toolbox and open the MAINTENANCE MENU.

In the System Information Box, look for the OS version number.

OS Version = 6.01 (or higher) means you do not have to complete a software update.  It is recommended that periodically you check to see if you have the latest software version for your ECOpoint.   This will keep your ECOpoint running smoothly and at its best capacity.

If the OS version is listed:

If the OS version number is 6.01 or above, you do not have to update software. Go to the instructions for attaching ECOpoint beginning on page 5.

If the OS version is not listed:

If you do not see the OS version listed, or it is lower than 6.01, you MUST update you software before you mount the ECOpoint system on your ECO-14.

To Update Software:

1. Back up the vocabulary in your ECO-14 by performing a Memory Transfer. See the following link to learn about memory transfers online.

http://support.prentrom.com/article.php?id=478

2. When the vocabulary is backed up, find the ECO RECOVERY DISK and the instructions for using it that came with your ECOpoint unit.

3. FOLLOW THE RECOVERY DISK INSTRUCTIONS EXACTLY AS THEY ARE WRITTEN. When the Recovery Disk process is completed, you can mount the ECOpoint system on your device.

Before you start: Make sure the ECO-14 is OFF.

THis shows removing the screws of the bottom of the ECO.

Turn the ECO-14 OFF.

Carefully place the ECO-14 face down on a flat surface.

Remove the four screws (shown above) from the back of the case

You will not need these screws unless you remove the ECOpoint system from your device. We suggest you put the screws in a small bag and label the bag in case you need the screws at a later date.

Remove the bracket and the four black screws from the ECOpoint parts bag. There are two long screws and two shorter screws.

Do not attach the screws yet.

This shows the mounting bracket for the ECOpoint.

The longer screws will go on top of the bracket

The shorter screws will go on the bottom of the bracket.

Do not attach screws yet.

Tighten the screws so that the ECOpoint unit is secured to the tabs, the bracket and case.

This shows the power cable from the ECOpoint plugged into the ECO.

Once again, verify that the ECO is turned OFF.  Plug the power cable into the hole on the right side of the case (as you are now looking at the device).

Plugging the USB cable into one of the USB ports.

Plug the USB end of the cable into one of the USB ports on your ECO-14 to complete assembly.

Now you can turn on your ECO and proceed with the Set-up.
