Can I Convert Audio Files to Play on my Vantage Lite?

If you have large WAV files you can convert them to smaller MP3 files or WMA files.

If you have Windows Media Player, it does a very good job of converting for you. In fact, if you “rip” a CD using Windows Media Player, it automatically converts the WAV files on the CD into WMA format.

NOTE:  PRC does not provide technical support for the process of "ripping" songs beyond what is mentioned in this article.

What do you mean by “rip?”

WAV files are big and MP3 files are small. If you wanted to take all the music off a CD in its raw WAV format, you would need lots of memory to store it somewhere. So “ripping” is the process whereby you use a piece of software to rip the songs off a CD, converting them in the process, and storing the ripped files on your computer hard drive. Once you have ripped a CD, you can place it back on the shelf and play your music from your hard drive with some form of music playing software.

Windows Media Player will allow you to "rip" songs.

Windows Media Player is a popular software because it comes free with all Windows computers. There’s even a button on the home screen that says “Copy from CD,” which you can activate after inserting a music CD. The songs are ripped and converted to WMA, then stored on your hard drive.

Once the song are in your desired format, (MP3, WAV, or WMA) you can copy the music files to a USB flash drive or a Secure Digital Card to play on your Vantage Lite.
