How do I Perform a Software Update on my Vantage Lite?
This update may take up to three hours, so you need to prepare for this. You cannot use the device during the update.
Read all instructions before beginning the update. You may want to print this page and then proceed to the update.
You will need your device and the battery charger that came with the device.
The system software you are currently using in your device should be a lower version than the version you want to download. To check your current version, go to the device Toolbox. Open the MAINTENANCE MENU. Look at the "System Information" box to check your current software version.
On Your Computer
1. Go to http://www.prentrom.com/downloads/updates
2. Click on VTL, then click LATEST Vantage Lite USB Flashdrive Software Update
3. Here you will find 3 Files. ALL 3 files are required for this software update and will need to be downloaded to your computer desktop first.
NOTE: Do not download these files directly to your USB flash drive.
4. Plug the USB flash drive into the USB port on your computer.
5. Copy ALL 3 of the update files from your desktop to your USB flash drive.
6. Eject/Remove the USB flash drive from your computer port and keep it nearby.
On Your Device
1. Plug your USB flash drive into the USB port on your device.
If you have made changes to your device vocabulary that you want to keep, use the TRANSFER MEMORY MENU in the Toolbox and save the vocabulary to your USB flash drive before starting the update.
2. Turn your device ON and plug in the battery charger.
3. Hold the ON/OFF button for 10 seconds. The update will now begin.
4. When the update is complete, it will ask you to remove the USB flash drive from the device. Unplug the USB Flash Drive at this time.
5. Once the unit reboots and shows the core vocabulary screen, you may reload the vocabulary you saved earlier, using the TRANSFER MEMORY MENU to load it back into the device now.
Note: If you load old vocabulary, you will lose any MAP fixes or MAP changes that came with the new software.
6. Remove the USB drive from your device and put it in a safe place. You may also unplug the battery charger if you do not need it.
