Why do I No Longer Hear Speech from my SpringBoard Lite?

If you no longer have sound coming from your SpringBoard Lite, there could be several things that were changed in your Toolbox that are affecting this.

You will first want to check to see if your Speaker Volume is up loud enough to hear the volume.  You can do this by going to the Toolbox to check the volume in the Status bar.

You can check the volume levels on the status key.  The bar underneath the speaker icon tells you where your volume is set.  If the bar is filled with green lines, the volume is at its loudest. If you only see a few bars, simply select the Volume Up Key in your toolbox to turn up the volume.

If this bar is Red, your speech is turned off.  You can turn it back on by selecting the Speech On/Off key in your toolbox.

A word about the Status Key: This is a picture of the Status Key in the Toolbox.

The top row on the Status key shows you how much power is left in your SpringBoard Lite batteries.

The middle row shows you where the device volume is set.

The bottom row shows you where the headphone volume is set if you are using headphones.

The Status key is available in the Full Toolbox and the Simple Toolbox.

If you still do not hear any output from the SpringBoard Lite you may also want to check a setting in the Feedback Menu in the regular toolbox.  This is a picture of the Feedback Key in the Regular Toolbox.

Here you want to verify that the External Speaker setting is still set to OFF.  This should only be on if an external speaker is plugged into the side of the device.

If this setting was ON, select the OFF key and press OK to exit.

The last thing you may want to check is to verify that your Auditory Prompts are still turned off.  You can do this by:

1.  Enter the AUDITORY PROMPTS menu.

This is a picture of the Tools page with Auditory Prompts highlighted.

2. Under Auditory Prompts, select OFF.  With this set to off, the other two options/ settings will not matter.

 Select OK to exit.
