Why is My Clear Display key not working in my ECO?
Video (Click play button to start.)
When the Clear Display key does not work, it is usually because you have a Notebook open by accident.
Whenever a Notebook is open, the Clear Display key is disabled until the Notebook is closed. The key is disabled so that you don't accidentally erase an open Notebook.
To Close a Notebook:
1. Go into the Toolbox, and select the key labeled Notebook menu.
2. Select the key labeled Close Notebook.

3. This will bring up the message, “The Notebook has changed, would you like to save changes?” Answer, NO
NOTE for Step 3: If you deliberately opened a Notebook and were working in it, you might want to answer YES to this question to save any work you did.
4. Next select OK to exit the Notebook menu.
Add some text to your display and test the Clear Display key. If the Clear Display key works properly you are finished.
If the Clear Display key is still not working properly you will need to check the key assignment using the Assign Core Keys Menu.
1. In the Toolbox select Assign Core Keys.
2. The message, “Select the key to view or modify” will appear at the top of the display.
3. Select the Clear Display key.
You should see the following screen.
4. On your screen, make sure Tool is selected in the Assign Key As box.
5. Select the key labeled Enter Assignment.
6. If there is another assignment listed, delete it .
7. Select Insert Tool.
Now select the tool labeled Clear Display. (tools will be in alphabetical order.)
8. If your user is a scanner that uses an Auditory Prompt, you may also want to select Insert Tool and choose the Prompt Marker tool. Now you can enter the text you want the key prompt to speak when scanned to that location. This text will not appear in the text bar when selected.
9. Select OK.
10. Change the Icon and Label if needed, then select OK to exit.
