How do I get my ECO to Speak?

If your words are coming up on the display but you have no sound there are a few settings to check.
1. Look at the Status Display Area under the text bar of your display. Your speech is On if the indicator next to the word Speech is green. Look at the bar graph next to the icon of the Speaker. There should be lines at least halfway across the bar. If the bar graph is not filled in to the halfway mark, go to the Toolbox and select SPEAKER VOLUME UP until the volume is up half way. Select OK when finished and you should now have sound.
2. If there is not a green light next to the word Speech, then your speech is Off. You need to Turn it On.
3. To turn your speech On go into the Toolbox and select the white SPEECH ON/OFF key.
The Speech indicator will now be green.
Select OK when finished. You should now have speech.
4. If the Speech is On and your Volume is at least halfway but there is still no sound, check the External Speaker tool in the FEEDBACK MENU.
5. In the Toolbox select FEEDBACK MENU key.
6. In the FEEDBACK MENU, make sure External Speaker is set to Off. This function should only be turned on if you have an external speaker plugged into the earphone jack on the side of the Eco. Select OK when finished.
7. If you still do not have any sound, you will have to Reset the device.
8. If, after you reset your device, you still don't have any sound, call the PRC Service Department at 1-800-262-1990.
