Transferring Memory from an Older Pathfinder to Another.

When you plug the MTI-Serial-PF-to-IBM-PC cable into the Serial Port connector on each Pathfinder, you can transfer vocabulary from one Pathfinder to another. If you do not have the MTI-IBM cable, you can order it from PRC.

To Transfer Vocabulary from One Pathfinder to Another:

1. Plug the MTI-Serial-PF-to-IBM-PC cable into the Serial Port connector on the top of each Pathfinder, ( the 9 pin connector with the picture of the computer). The ends of the cable are the same so it does not matter which end goes into which connector.

2. Open the Toolbox

3. Select the TRANSFER MEMORY MENUon each Pathfinder. Make sure the baud rate is the same for both Pathfinders.

4. On the Pathfinder that contains the vocabulary you want to transfer, activate one of the "Save" options to begin the saving procedure.

5. Pathfinder will display "Looking for host computer...."

6. On the Pathfinder that is going to receive the vocabulary, activate one of the "Load" options to start the loading procedure.

7. The transfer takes place automatically.

8.  When the transfer is complete, select OK to exit.

Note:  Software Versions:  The software versions of both Pathfinders must match--OR-- the Pathfinder you are transferring your vocabulary to must have a software version greater than the software version in the Pathfinder you are transferring from.  The memory transfer will not take place unless one of these statements is true for your devices.
