How Do I Transfer Memory from One AlphaTalker to Another?

By plugging the MTI-Mac (Macintosh, MTI-6) cable in to the RS-232 ports on the top of each AlphaTalker, you can transfer vocabulary from one AlphaTalker   to another. If you do not have the MTI-Mac cable, you can order it from PRC.

To Transfer Vocabulary from One AlphaTalker to Another:

1. Plug the MTI-Mac cable into the RS-232 connectors on the top panel of each AlphaTalker.  (The ends of the cable are the same so it doesn't matter which end goes into which connector.)

2. Remove the keyguard and overlay from each AlphaTalker.
On each AlphaTalker: go to the Control Panel.  Step to Tools. Acctivate On/Off to open the Toolbox.  The Tools light on each device should be solid red.

3. On the AlphaTalker that has the vocabulary you want to transfer:  Activate Save Memory in the Toolbox.

4. On the AlphaTalker you want to load the saved memory into:  Activate Load Memory in the Toolbox.

5. The Transfer takes place automatically. Lights will blink on the AlphaTalker that is transferring its memory. When the transfer is finished the lights will stop blinking.

6. Turn both devices Off and disconnect the cable.
