How do I Use the Notebooks in the Vantage/Vanguard?
The NOTEBOOK MENU
Notebooks are unique to an Area. For example, a Notebook in Area 1 cannot be accessed if you (or others) are using Area 2.
NOTE: When you are using a Notebook, the display area is pale yellow, not white, to remind you that you are in a Notebook. You also have the option of changing the display color to something different.
NOTE: Notebooks can use a lot of memory space. If you find you are low on memory, check your Notebooks to see if there are any you can delete.
Notebook Options
Go to the Toolbox and activate NOTEBOOK MENU.

New Notebook: use this option to open a new Notebook. Type a name for the Notebook and activate OK to begin using the new Notebook.
Open Notebook: use this option to select a Notebook from a list of all your saved Notebooks. This option does not open new, unnamed Notebooks. Use New Notebook to start a new Notebook.
Close Notebook: use this option to close the Notebook you are working in. If you haven't saved your Notebook, the Vantage will ask you if you want to save changes. Answer Yes or No. Once the Notebook is closed, the Text Display area will return to a showing a white background. You can re-open a closed Notebook by using the Open Notebook option.
Rename Notebook: use this option if you want to rename an already saved Notebook. Select the Notebook you want to rename. Delete the old name and type in the new name. Select OK.
Delete Notebook: use this option when you no longer need a Notebook. Select the Notebook you want to delete. The Vantage asks if you want to delete the named Notebook. Activate Yes (or No). The Notebook is automatically deleted. Because Notebooks use a lot of memory, it's a good idea to review your Notebook list periodically and delete any unwanted Notebooks.
Save Notebook: use this option to save your work whenever you are in a Notebook. After the Vantage has saved the Notebook, it will return you to the open Notebook.
Print Notebook: use this option to print out an entire Notebook or to send it to a word document on the computer. NOTE: You must first go to the NOTEBOOK MENU, select Open Notebook and open the Notebook you want to print. Then activate Print Notebook in the NOTEBOOK MENU. A Notebook must be open on your device for the Vantage/Vanguard to be able to print it.
Load Notebook from Disk
Save Notebook to Disk
These two options allow you to save Notebooks to a computer or load them from a computer back into the Vantage. For more information see the related article Transferring Notebooks using the USB port on a Vantage/Vanguard Plus.
Lock/Unlock Notebook: use this option to lock a Notebook so that no one else can add to it or change anything in it. NOTE: If you open a Notebook and discover that you can't write in it, check this option to see if the Notebook is locked. If it is, just select the Unlocked box.
Highlight Color: When you are using a Notebook, the Display Area where you see text will turn a pale yellow color instead of the normal white color. This is to remind you that you are in a Notebook. If you want to change the display to a different color, select this option and then select the color you want. You will see this color whenever you are using a Notebook.
Copy Notebook: This feature allows you to copy a Notebook from one user area to another. (Only available on 4.0 software and higher)
