What is a Dynamic Activity in a Vantage/Vanguard?
A Dynamic Activity is an already created activity that is linked to an icon or an icon sequence. The Dynamic Activity will appear in the activity row after the icon or icon sequence is selected
Once you make an activity dynamic, you can be in any other activity, activate the icon you selected for your dynamic activity, speak a message from it and return automatically to the original activity.
Let's say you have a "Baking Cookies" Activity and you want to make it dynamic.
Note: The Activity you are linking MUST be created BEFORE you try to link it to your icon sequence.
To Make an Activity Dynamic:
1. Go to the Toolbox and activate DYNAMIC ACTIVITY MENU.
2. Make sure that the Dynamic Activities box is set to ON.
3. Make sure that the Activity Persistence box says Temporary. (This means the activity stays dynamic for one activation only, then takes you back to where you were. If you want to remain in the activity, select Permanent).
4. Activate Add Dynamic Activity.
5. Select a sequence (a one-icon sequence is quickest) from your overlay that will remind you of the activity. You will not mask any vocabulary when you select a sequence for an activity. The current dynamic activity will be replaced. Activate OK.
6. Now activate the Baking activity (or any activity you want to be your dynamic activity). Use the MORE ITEMS key if necessary to find your activity.
7. Activate OK. Activate OK in the Toolbox.
To Test your Dynamic Activity:
Go to your communication overlay and activate the icon in your core vocabulary that you selected in Step 5.
The Baking activity opens. Activate an icon in the activity. The word is spoken and you return to your original activity.
TIP: Since a Dynamic Activity is intended to be selected from an icon or an icon sequence, you may not want to see a Dynamic Activity listed in your standard activity row. Use the Hide Activity option in the ACTIVITY menu to keep a Dynamic Activity from being visible in the standard activity row.
