Transferring Memory TO and FROM an Accent Device
Plug a USB drive into a USB port on the bottom left side of your Accent 700.
NOTE: You must use your USB drive to load or save your device vocabulary.
Save an Area
"Saving" means you are backing up an Area or the whole device FROM your device onto your USB drive.
1. Make sure your USB drive is plugged into your device.
2. Go to the Toolbox and open the TRANSFER MEMORY MENU.
3. Select Save One User Area or Save Entire Device Contents.
4. If you selected Save One User Area select the Area you want to save.
5. You see a message that the memory transfer file will be saved in a pre-set folder. If it says something other than Removable Media select Choose Different Folder and select your Removable Media USB Flash Drive.
NOTE: The transfer will be saved as a .mti file (memory transfer interface file).
6. Type in a name for the MTI file. Your device will save the Area you selected or the Entire 6 User Areas if Entire Device Contents was selected, on your removable media drive.
7. A dialog box will appear to tell you when the transfer is completed. Select OK to exit.
Load an MTI File into an Area
"Loading" means you are transferring an already saved Area or whole device from your USB or Secure Digital card back into your device.
1. If you are using a USB drive, make sure it is plugged into your device. You must have an MTI file on your USB to load into your device (See Save an Area above.).
2. Select Load One User Area or Load Entire Device Contents depending how the file was originally saved.
3. If you selected Load One User Area, select the Area you want to load the file into. A yellow box will appear asking Do you want to erase all vocabulary in this area before loading? Select YES. Important Note: Selecting NO may scramble your vocabulary and make it unusable.
4. You see a list of all the files on your USB drive.
5. Find the file you want. It will have .mti at the end of the name.
6. Select the file.
7. A dialogue box will appear to tell you when the transfer is complete. Select OK to exit.
Important Note: Flash drives can be static sensitive or can be easily lost; it is recommended that you make a copy of the .mti program to your external computer in case the flash drive becomes damaged or lost. To load files onto your computer, read the directions that came with your USB flash drive or SD card. For a USB flash drive, in some cases you may need to load a driver. Your storage device directions will tell you.
If the flash drive is not recognized by your device, make sure you have any files on the flash drive backed up on the computer then check to see if the flash drive is formatted in a FAT 32 format. This can be done on a computer or on the Windows side by opening My Computer and right clicking the removable drive. Now click FORMAT which will open a window where you can select FAT 32 under the FILE SYSTEM. Select START which will begin the format process. When finished try the transfer again. If still no luck, try another flash drive.
Tip: After loading a file back into the Accent, you may select the Go To Home, only to find that the vocabulary you loaded into the device is not there. This could mean that you loaded the file into a different user area than the one you currently are in. Go to the Toolbox to User Area Menu then select Switch User Areas. Now select the name of the User Area you loaded and select OK to exit. Go To Home once again and you should now see your vocabulary.
