How can I get the maximum number of hours from my Vantage/Vanguard Plus battery?
On average you will get 8 hours of life from a battery before it needs to be recharged.
If you notice that you are not getting 8 hours of life from your battery pack there are a few settings to check in order to maximize the life of your battery pack.
1. Change Auto Power Down in the MAINTENANCE menu from 5 minutes to 2 minutes.
The sooner your display shuts off when the Vantage/Vanguard Plus is not in use, the longer your battery will last.

2. Reduce the Backlight Intensity setting in the FEEDBACK menu.
Lower settings use less power and your battery will last longer.
Note: Remember you are trying to maximize your battery life, but not at the expense of the device user
3. When you unplug the charger after a re-charge, make sure 100% shows in the Battery Status Area.
Note: If the Battery Status Area does not show 100% after you remove the charger, this may indicate that your charger is not supplying enough voltage to charge the battery pack, or you haven't had the charger plugged in for at least 6 hours.
4. If you are using the internal Tracker headpointer, you can only expect 4 to 5 hours of life from your battery pack since the internal camera requires more power to operate.
Note: The Internal Tracker is always on while the device is on regardless if the backlight is On or not.
5. If you unplug the battery after a full charge and the Battery Status Area shows 100% but the battery does not last at least 6 hours, it is time for a new battery pack. On average a battery pack will last 2 years before it has to be replaced. PRC guarantees all battery packs for at least one year.
