Adding a Tool/Function Key to a Page in Accent.

You can add tools to keys when you are creating a new page using the CREATE PAGE menu in the Toolbox.  

You can add tools to keys on a page that has already been created by using the MODIFY PAGE menu in the Toolbox and then selecting the page you want to add the tool(s) to.

Once you have started to create a new page or selected a page to modify, follow the steps below.

1. Choose the key you want to add the function tool to. You want to be consistent with the location of frequently used tools to promote motor memory.

2. Select Spell Message, or Define Key Function.

2a. If the key you selected already has an assignment, select CLEAR DISPLAY to erase it.

3. Select INSERT TOOL - located in the top row of keys on the left side of your spelling overlay. (You must be using a QWERTY spelling overlay. )

4. You now see a list of all the tools available. Select the tool you wish to insert, such as Clear Display, Go to Minspeak, Set Page (allows you to link to another page), Speak All, etc.  We chose Clear Display.

You will now see your tool name at the top of the spelling page.  If this is correct select OK,  if not clear the assignment and select Insert Tool again and select the proper tool.

5. Select OK.

Change Icon and Label

6. Change Icon and Change Label allows you to change the "look" of the icon, Change Key Color will change the background color of the icon, etc. Modify as you like.

7. Select OK to exit OR select CHOOSE NEXT KEY TO DEFINE.

8. Repeat steps above to add another tool to a new key.
