Vantage/Vanguard Software Upgrade: Key Features when upgrading from 4.06 to 5.00 Software
If you are interested in upgrading your current software version in a Vantage or Vanguard, here are the feature changes:
• Context Scenes: You can create pages that have a large graphic with “hot spots.” The Unity® language software already contains examples of these.
• Vocabulary Builder: This exciting new feature lets you build vocabulary from just a few words to many thousands. You can set the device to show only the words you want to focus on, based on preloaded lists or ones you create yourself.
• Customizable scan patterns: As well as having many pre-set scan patterns already built into your device, you can now create your own scan patterns. You can even have different patterns on different pages!
• 60-location key size: The new 60-location size keyboard option gives clients a middle ground between the 45- and 84-location sets. This can be a valuable step up for individuals who are currently using 45 keys.
• Unity 2008 versions: Some changes have been made to improve the Unity 45 program, making it possible to access more vocabulary with fewer keystrokes. We’ve also added the new Unity 60, a powerful and flexible choice for clients who might previously have chosen Unity 45. With 60 keys, there are more choices with fewer keystrokes.
(Note: if you load your custom vocabulary onto the Upgrade card, you will lose the new Unity changes)
• The Simple Toolbox: This is a pared down version of the Full Toolbox with only a few often-used menus and functions. The menus are simpler because they do not contain all the options that are in the Full Toolbox menus. This can be useful for parents, clinicians, and teachers who are just starting out programming PRC devices.
If you decide you would like to upgrade to the new software version, here are some things you need to know:
This software is a paid upgrade with the cost of $500.00 and must be purchased through PRC Sales. 1-800-262-1990. Once purchased, you will receive a new software card to install into the device.
Device Requirements:
The Vantage must have serial number 2500VT or higher with Deviation 7
The Vanguard must have serial number 2100VG or higher with Deviation 5
You must have the proper deviation installed, which means if your device has been returned for servicing to PRC in the last 2 years, this deviation has already been installed. If you are not sure if the device has been updated with the deviation, please contact PRC Service with the serial number of the device. 1-800-262-1990. If the deviation has not been installed, the device will need to return to PRC Service to have this done. Once received, a technician will also check over the device to make sure it is in working order. Additional charges may apply.
