How do I Upgrade my ECO2 to Run Windows 7?

The upgrade to 3.0 must be ordered through PRC Sales Department because the file size is not manageable as a download.

ECO2 devices shipped on or after May 27, 2011 are equipped with operating system 3.0 and Windows 7 Home Edition and do not require an upgrade.

ECO2 devices shipped before May 27, 2011 include operating system 2.07 and Windows XP Home Edition. Upgrading to the 3.0 operating system requires both the PRC Restore Kit and the Windows 7 Home Edition.

  • The PRC Restore Kit (P/N 15352) is free and includes the 3.0 restore disk, the AT&T voices disk, and instructions. To order contact PRC Sales at (800) 262-1933.
  • The Windows 7 Home Edition upgrade (P/N 15207-10) is available from PRC for $149. Windows 7 upgrade does not have to be purchased from PRC. It can be purchased at a local retailer but Windows 7 Home Edition is required to run the 3.0 operating system. To purchase Windows 7 Home Edition through PRC contact Sales at (800) 262-1933.

  • Unity Changes:
    • Vocabulary Builder for all Unity areas has a new sequence set added for Icon Tutor. It is accessed from the Vocabulary Builder Page.
    • Unity default MAPs are now 1-Hit or Sequenced.
    • Infrared commands for the SERO phone and a new SERO phone page have been added.
    • Computer access changes:
      • There is no longer a link to Outlook Express email pages in computer access because Outlook Express is not provided in ECO2 3.00. The Outlook Express computer access pages are still found in Page Menu. People who want to use a program like Outlook will have to download Windows Live.
      • There are new pages for G Mail. You have to first set up a G mail account, and then in your G mail pages look for settings. Under settings you must have the button checked for keyboard shortcuts. Then the G mail pages will work.
      • Mouse pages have been modified to 2 rows instead of 3. The previous mouse pages are still in the Page Menu.
      • There is a new key for Focus. It’s located near the top right of the computer access pages. If your ECO focus goes off of the top window, then select the Focus key, and then the click key that you see next. This will reset the focus to the top window.
      • The toggle key has a new macro for Alt + Esc instead of Alt + Tab. In Windows 7, if you do Alt + Tab, it makes your Unity program disappear.
