Transferring Memory from One Pathfinder to Another.

When you plug the MTI-Serial-PF-to-IBM-PC cable, also called a Null Modem (#11819), into the SERIAL PORT connector on the top of each Pathfinder, you can transfer vocabulary from one Pathfinder to another. If you do not have the MTI-IBM cable, you can order it from PRC.

To Transfer Vocabulary from One Pathfinder to Another Pathfinder:

1.  Turn the Pathfinder OFF.  Plug the MTI-Serial-PF-to-IBM-PC cable into the SERIAL PORT connector on the top of each Pathfinder. (The ends of the cable are the same so it does not matter which end goes into which connector.)

2. Turn both devices ON and select the STATUS key twice on each Pathfinder.

3.  From the System Menus, activate the TRANSFER MEMORY on each Pathfinder.

4.  Select More Items to view screen 2.  The Baud Rates in each Pathfinder must be the same. The default baud rate is set to 57,600.

5.  Set the  MTI Method on each Pathfinder to Auto or Serial, if you have this option.  Select More Items again to return to the first screen.

6. On the Pathfinder that contains the vocabulary you want to transfer , activate one of the "Save" options ( #2 or #4) to begin the saving procedure--for example,  #2 Save Entire Device Contents.

7.  This device will now say  "Looking for host computer...."

8.  On the Pathfinder that is going to receive the vocabulary, activate one of the "Load"options (#1 or #3) to start the loading procedure--for example, Load Entire Device Contents.

9.  You will now see a message box asking you to load or merge the new file.  You must choose #1 Erase Old Vocabulary Before Loading.

10. You will see a message on your screen that says “Memory Transfer in Progress”.  The transfer takes place automatically.

11.  When the transfer is complete, select OK on both devices to exit.
