How do I Program the Alarm Tool in ECO2?

USE THIS KEY ONLY WHEN THERE IS A TRUE EMERGENCY!

NOTE:  The ALARM tool is only available in Software Version 2.06 or higher.

You can program a red ALARM key Alarm Key to alert someone of an emergency.

You can add this ALARM to a Core, Activity, or a Page Key.

To add this tool to a key follow the steps below:

1. Select the #2 - User Define key on the top of you device case.  Next choose the key you want to add the ALARM to. You want to be consistent with the location of frequently used tools to promote motor memory if you are adding it to more than one page.

2. Select Spell Message, or Define Key Function.

2a. If the key you selected already has an assignment, select CLEAR DISPLAY to erase it.

3. Select INSERT TOOL - located in the top row of keys on the left side of your spelling overlay. (You must be using a QWERTY spelling overlay. )

4. You now see a list of all the tools available. Select the ALARM tool ALARM toolThis is a picture showing the ALARM  tool.

You will now see your tool name at the top of the spelling page.  If this is correct select OK,  if not clear the assignment and select Insert Tool again and select the ALARM tool again.

5. Select OK.

6. Select CHANGE ICON.

7. Select an icon from one of the categories to represent the tool.

8. Select CHANGE LABEL. Type the name of the label you want and select OK.

9. Select OK to exit OR select CHOOSE NEXT KEY TO DEFINE.

IMPORTANT NOTE:   When selected, the ALARM will sound for 12 seconds.  You may want to add another key with NO ALARM to cancel this function it the ALARM is accidentally selected.

10. Select CHOOSE NEXT KEY TO DEFINE, then select the key you wish to use as the NO ALARM tool.

11.  Select Spell Message, or Define Key Function.

12.  Select INSERT TOOL , then choose SPEECH ON-OFF

13.  Select INSERT TOOL , then choose SPEECH ON-OFF a second time.

14.  Select INSERT TOOL , then choose the CANCEL tool.

15.  Select INSERT TOOL , then choose the OK tool.

No Alarm key.

16.  Press OK, then CHANGE ICON and CHANGE LABEL so you know this is the key that will turn off the ALARM.  Choose OK to exit and try out your newly programmed keys.

The alarm signals an emergency. It is piercing and intense and initially startling to those who hear it. Be sure to only use the ALARM key for actual emergencies.
