Using the System Lock in your ECO2
System Lock
When System Lock is ON you can still use the Core vocabulary to speak but the use of the I/O, TOOLBOX and USER DEFINDED KEYS (keys 1, 2, etc) on the front of the case is severely limited. For instance, if the system is locked and you activate the Tools key, you will see the Toolbox screen and a message on the display that tells you that the system is locked. You can then press and hold the key for 10 seconds to activate the Toolbox. This allows you to use some of the Tools and enter some of the menus, but not all of them.
To Lock the System:
Open the MAINTENANCE MENU and press System Lock Settings key
Once in this menu, you will have the following options.

System Lock: Option to Turn the Lock ON or OFF
System Lock Password: Option to turn on a Password or leave off. You do not need to turn on or set a password to activate the System Lock.
Change System Lock Password: When using a Password, this password can be changed anytime by selecting this key. You will be given a spelling keyboard to spell the new password.
Pull Down Menu Button: This allows you to Enable or Disable the small blue pull down menu to the right of the status bar.
To Unlock the System:
If you press the TOOLS key you will receive the following message.

If you press and hold the TOOLS key for 5 seconds you will activate the Toolbox. This allows you to use some of the Tools and menus, but not all of them. You can open the MAINTENANCE MENU, select the System Lock Settings option and turn System Lock OFF. This puts your device back into normal use mode, allowing you to program and make necessary menu changes. Remember to turn your System Lock back ON when finished making changes.
To unlock the system when a password was set:
If a Password was set, then you must press and hold Tools for 10 seconds. You will now see a keyboard on your screen, enter the password then select OK. Now enter the Maintenance Menu to turn your System Lock OFF.
Forgotten Password:
If a Password was set, but you have forgotten the password, you will need your external keyboard plugged into your ECO. Now you must press and hold tools for 10 seconds. You will now see a spelling keyboard on your screen, on the external Keyboard, press and hold the Alt while pressing the F4. Release both keys. This will close the ECO software.
To reopen the ECO software, you must restart the Windows program. To do this, select the START key, then go to Turn Off Computer. Select Restart. Once your ECO software comes back on, you can go to the Maintenance menu where you will see that the System Lock is now turned OFF.
