Downloading Books to Demo on Bookshare with ECO2
On the Internet:
1. Go to bookshare.org. Click the "advanced search" option and this now gives the Books to Search option that allows to you to search books that are public domain.

2. You can now enter the name of your book or search freely for all books available.
3. Once you've found your book, click on the DAISY option next to the title (it's a link, highlighted in blue and underlined)
Now on your Computer:
4. Open the "start" button on your PC
5. Go to "My Documents", click enter or double-click with your mouse
6. Go to the “Downloads” folder. (click enter or double-click with your mouse)
7. In the Downloads folder you'll see a file that has a zipper on it - it's the name of your book with a file extension of .zip. Double click it or hit enter
8. A dialogue box will pop up with a suggested directory - click "browse" next to the text box.
9. A new dialogue box will pop up with places for you to store things.
Create a new folder wherever you choose to store this book (My Documents is good) and label it with the title of the book, hit enter and open
10. You're back at the dialogue box that suggests a directory (now the one you chose and should remember) - hit enter
11. A new dialogue box will open up asking if you want to see the files - hit NO
That's it. You're done. You can delete the .xip file from your downloads folder (recommended) and it's gone. You can now move the ENTIRE folder that you unzipped and created in your My Documents folder to whatever device you're using.
- In Kurzweil or Read Outloud you can open the .opf or.htm file to read
- You don't actually need software to read the book visually - you can use the .htm extension to read it in the same browser you use to look at internet pages. It's not opening it on the internet - just using the same style or browser to show you it.
NOTE – this folder can be transferred onto your ECO using a jump drive.
