How do I Use Computer Emulation with a USB Cable on my SpringBoard?

If you have a SpringBoard 2 or SpringBoard Plus with 3.0 software you can connect a USB cable to your communication aid and your computer, then use your communication aid to work on your computer.

You received a USB cable in the box with your SpringBoard. If this cable has been lost, you can purchase a replacement cable at a local computer access store.  This cable is called a USB to A TO B cable or USB Printer cable.

Connecting the USB Cable

Turn OFF your device and shut down your computer. Both devices should be OFF.

Find the USB cable that came with your device.

Connect the A TO B end of the cable (in this instance, this is the end with the small square connector) to the square port on side of your device.

Connect the USB end of the cable to the USB port on your computer (this may be on the front of the computer or in back, or both).

Turn your computer and your device back ON.

Now you will want to adjust some settings so your device will send data through the USB port to your computer.

1.  Select your TOOLBOX key on the top of your device.

2.  In the toolbox, open the OUTPUT MENU.

3.  Set Output Method to USB Disk.

4.  Set Output to ON.

5.  Set Auto Line Feed  should be set to OFF.

6.  Set Keyboard Layout to US.

7.  Select OK to exit

Now open a word document on you computer and try it out.  What you type on the SpringBoard should appear in the word document.
