How do I Register Windows in my ECO2?
Activate your Copy of Windows
You have 30 days to activate your copy of Windows. If you fail to do this, Windows will quit working and you will not be able to use your device until you perform another recovery and activate Windows.
You can activate Windows by making a phone call or by using the internet.
To Activate Windows by Phone Call
Position your ECO near your phone. Make sure the keyboard and mouse are plugged in. You will have to speak into the phone and type onto the ECO screen.
Open the Start Menu in the menu bar at the top of your screen.
Click on All Programs.
Click on Activate Windows.
Select Phone.
Select your location.
Dial the number you see on the screen.
Listen to the introduction. Respond YES to the "Activate Windows XP" question.
Recite the bocks of numbers you see on your ECO screen when you are asked.
The voice on the phone will give you blocks of numbers in return.
Type these numbers into the bocks on your screen as you receive them.
Click on Next when asked.
Click on Finish.
Close the program.
To Activate Windows over the Internet
Make sure your internet connection is working. Open Windows Explorer and view a Web page.
Once you know your internet connection is working, double-click on the time in the menu bar at the top of your screen.
Make sure the date on your computer is set correctly. If it is not, set it to the correct date. Either double click on the "date" icon in the menu bar to change it or open the Control Panel in the Start Menu and select the Date and Time icon.
Open the Start Menu at the top of your screen.
Click on All Programs.
Click on Activate Windows.
Select Internet, then select Next.
You can register here or not. We recommend you do not do this now, so select No. Select Next.
You should see "Activation successful." Select OK.
