How do I Use Computer Emulation with a USB Cable on my Pathfinder?

If you have a Pathfinder with the serial number of  3000PF or higher and with 3.0 software you can connect a USB cable to your communication aid and your computer, then use your communication aid to work on your computer.

You received a USB cable in the box with your Pathfinder. If this cable has been lost, you can purchase a replacement cable at a local computer access store.  This cable is called a USB to A TO B port cable or a USB Printer cable.

Connecting the USB Cable

Turn OFF your Pathfinder shut down your computer. Both devices should be OFF.

Find the USB cable that came with your Pathfinder.

Connect the A to B end of the cable (in this instance, this is the end with the small square connector) to the square port on the left side of the Pathfinder.

Connect the USB end of the cable to the USB port on your computer (this may be on the front of the computer or in back, or both).

Turn your computer and your Pathfinder back ON.

Now you will want to adjust some settings so your Pathfinder will send data through the USB port to your computer.

1. Select your STATUS key twice

and open the OUTPUT MENU.

3. Set Output to ON

4. Auto Line Feed  and Character Pacing Should be set to OFF.

5. If you plan to send large amounts of text at one time, such as a Notebook, Character Pacing should be turned ON

6. Output Mode should be set to Immediate.

7. The Baud Rate cannot be changed when the Output Method is set to USB

7.  Select OK to exit

Now open a word document on you computer and try it out.  What you type on the Pathfinder should appear in the word document.
