How to reset the Pathfinder with 2.0 and 3.0 software if it is locked up.

Below are some basic resets that you can try if your device is not working properly. Resets are especially helpful if your find you can't turn your Pathfinder Off or your touch screen is not responding.

Warm Boot Reset

NOTE: You will loose any vocabulary that was entered since the last time the device was turned Off.

This is a picture of the Tools and I/O buttons on a Pathfinder.

1. Hold down the Tools button which is located right under the I/O (On/Off) button.
2. Continue to hold down the Tools key and press and hold down the I/O button.
3. Let go of the Tools button.
4. Then let go of the I/O button.

This will restart your pathfinder and it should then work properly for you.

Hard Boot Reset (Battery Reset)

If you are still experiencing trouble with your device after doing a warm boot reset, the next step is to remove the battery connector inside the device.

NOTE:  You will loose any vocabulary that was entered since the device was turned off last.

To Perform  a Hard Boot Reset:

WARNING!    The battery charger must be unpluged to perform this reset!

1.  Remove the battery door on the left side of the bottom case beside where you plug in the charging jack.  The battery door will have 3 raised lines on it.

This is a picture of how to remove the battery door.

2.  You will see a ribbon that stretches over the piece of foam attached to the battery pack.

This is a picture of the ribbon you use to pull the battery pack.

3.  Pull on the ribbon until the battery pack comes out of the case about 2 inches.  You do not have to remove the battery pack completely to reset the device.

4.  Push the battery pack back into the case until you feel it click into place. It is re-connected when you tug gently on the ribbon and the battery remains in place.  Put the battery door back on.

5.  Your screen should come on as usual.  If you have the CE Application software, you should see a message on your display, "Load CE Apps? YES or NO."  Choose YES to have access to your CE programs.

If the device is still not performing properly, please call the PRC service department for further instructions. 1-800-262-1990.
