How do I Import Photos or Icons using a cable or USB flash disk, (software version 4.0 or higher)?
To Import Icons or Photos using a USB Flash Disk:
NOTE: Your photos must have a BMP, JPG, GIF, or PNG extension for the Vantage/Vanguard to recognize the photo as a valid icon.
1. Press the TOOLS button (with a picture of a hammer and screwdriver on it) on the front of the case to go the Vantage/Vanguard Toolbox.
2. Select the TRANSFER MEMORY MENU.
3. Plug the USB Flash Drive that contains your photos into the rectangualr USB connector on the right side of the Vantage/Vanguard case.
4. Go to the Toolbox and open the TRANSFER MEMORY MENU
5. Select the Import Icons option.
Important Note: If a flash drive is not being recognized by the device, you may need to reset the device by holding down the I/O button for 15 seconds then try the transfer again. If the flash drive is still not recognized, make sure you have any files on the flash drive backed up on the computer then check to see if the flash drive is formatted in a FAT 32 format. This can be done on a computer by opening My Computer and right clicking the removable drive. Now click FORMAT which will open a window where you can select FAT 32 under the FILE SYSTEM. Select START which will begin the format process. When finished, eject the flash drive and try the transfer again. If still no luck, try another flash drive.
6. You see a list of all the graphics (icons/photos) stored on your USB drive. Select the one(s) you want to import or use Select All to import them all at once. Select OK. When you select a graphic a checkmark will appear in the box.
7. If you select one icon to import you will see a screen like the one below:

You see the icon you imported and an option to Rename Icon. This allows you to change the name of the icon. You can also change the Aspect Ratio. We strongly suggest you leave this set to YES. When you are ready, select OK.
You see the Icon Category Menu. The Vantage/Vanguard automatically places your icon in the IMPORTS folder (you will not see this folder at this time). If you want your icon to be available in another category folder, select the category and the sub-category (if there is a sub-category). Then select OK. If you just want to keep the icon in the IMPORTS folder, select Cancel to exit the Category Menu.
8. If you select the Select All option , you see the first icon. You can select Rename Icon and change the icon name, then select OK to go to the next icon. You can also change the Aspect Ratio but we strongly suggest that you leave this option set to YES.
OR
If you want to import a number of icons at once, select the Import all icons without asking about each one option. This will place all the icons in a folder and you can then rename them at your leisure.
If you select Import all icons without asking about each one, you will see the following message:
"[Number of icons] Icons Loaded. Assign all to the same Category?"
If you select YES you will see the Icon Category Menu. The Vantage/Vanguard automatically places your icon in the IMPORTS folder (you will not see this folder at this time).
If you select NO, you will see the Icon Category Menu. Select the category and the sub-category (if there is a sub-category) you want for each icon. Then select OK. The icons will also be available in the IMPORTS folder (which you cannot se at this time).
NOTE: To see the IMPORTS folder go to any menu that offers the Change Icon option (e.g., STORE CORE, MODIFY ACTIVITY, etc.). Select the Change Icon option. You will see the Icon Category Menu. The IMPORTS folder should be visible.

Deleting Imported Icons from your Vantage:
You can simply delete imported icons from your device in any programming screen that has the option to Change Icon. The example below is through Modify Page:
1. In your Toolbox, select Modify Page and select any page. It doesn't matter what page you select since you will not be saving the changes to the page, only deleting your imported icons.
2. Select any key on this page. Again, it doesn't matter what key you select.
3. Choose the Change Icon key in the lower right corner of you screen.
