Why do I Receive Invalid Handle Value Error when Running the PASS Software....

PROBLEM: PASS has been downloaded onto your computer but when you try to use it, you often get a red error box that looks similar to the pictures below and contains the words INVALID_HANDLE_VALUE .

red box error

OR you may see the following error appear:

Invalid Handle Value error

The problem is not a download problem, it is a problem with running the program, modifying vocabulary, and switching user areas - anything that causes PASS to try to save data on the hard drive.

SOLUTION: You are trying to run PASS on a networked computer or a home computer that requires you to log on as an Administrator,  but you have not been granted File Permission. Ask your network System Administrator to give you File permission for the PASS software or log onto the home computer as an Administrator. You will then be able to use PASS.

If you know you have logged in as the System Administrator and are still receiveing the Invalid_Handle_Value error when trying to Import Icons and Save Files, then the problem may be that you have limited space available on your computer.  It is recommended that you free up some disk space by doing a Disk Cleanup and Defragmenting your computer then try using the PASS once again.

Go to Start -> Programs -> Accessories -> System Tools -> Disk Cleanup.  There you can select what you want it to get rid of.
You can also delete temporary internet files using the tools in your internet browser.
After all that run Start -> Programs -> Accessories -> System Tools -> Disk Defragmenter
