Using your System Lock in the Springboard.

What is System Lock?  This feature is very helpful if you have curious users that like to explore the toolbox and change settings that should not be changed.  When you select ON or PASSWORD, the use of the TOOLBOX keys on the front of the Pathfinder case is severely limited. If the system is locked and you activate the TOOLS key, you will see a message on the display that tells you the system is locked.  You will not be able to make any changes to the vocabulary until the System Lock is turned off.

These instructions are for software version 3.03 or higher.

To turn the System Lock ON:

1.   Activate the TOOLBOX  key on the left front of the SpringBoard Plus to get into the Tools Menus.

2.   Select the MAINTENANCE MENU.

3.  You will see a key labeled SYSTEM LOCK.

4.  The Up Arrow will toggle from OFF to ON to System Lock PASSWORD.

5.  The Password option will allow you to give the SpringBoard a unique password.

In general:
When System Lock is ON, the use of the I/O, TOOLBOX and ACTIVITY keys on the front of the case is severely limited. For instance, if the system is locked and you activate the TOOLBOX key, you will see the Toolbox and a message on the display that tells you that the system is locked.  You must first unlock the system before you can use the Toolbox.

To Turn the System Lock OFF:

1.  If the system is locked and you activate the TOOLS key, you will see a message on the display that tells you the system is locked.

2.  You can press and hold the TOOLS key for 5 seconds to activate the Toolbox.
This allows you to open the MAINTENANCE menu and change the System Lock option to Off.

3.  If the system is password-locked you will be asked to enter the password each time you hold the TOOLS key for 5 seconds.

4.  If you forget your password, reset the device by holding down the TOOLS and I/O buttons together for a few seconds, then release.

5.  The device will reset. This deletes your password and you can enter a new one.
