Applications

Those parties interested in collaborating on research with the AAC Research Alliance should take the following steps:

  1. Applicants should develop a proposal of no more than 10 pages in length which includes the information listed below.
    1. Contents of the proposal:
      1. A description of your organization and its' mission.
      2. Collaborators (individuals & organizations) working with you on this proposal.
      3. Qualifications of Principal Investigator. Include a brief description of any relevant prior research, teaching, publication or other professional experience. A detailed vita or list of publications is not required.
      4. Identify the research question(s) to be addressed.
      5. Present a brief overview of the research (literature review) examined in preparation for this project. (Submit your bibliography as an appendix).
      6. State your hypothesis and any assumptions with which you are entering this project.
      7. Describe the methodology you will be using to study this question (How will you know if your hypothesis is correct?) Also include information about:
        1. The site(s),the participants and the selection process for both.
        2. What equipment will be requested and how will it be used?
        3. How will the data be collected?
        4. How the data be analyzed?
        5. How will AAC Research Alliance funds be used?
      8. What is your plan for disseminating information once your project is complete?
      9. Also include:
        1. Budget, including other support such as other contributions to this project (cash, goods or services).
        2. Timelines. When is the proposed project completion date? What milestones will be used to measure progress of the project and when will each milestone be reached? (If the project described is part of a larger ongoing research program, estimate the time for completion of this project only).
        3. Secondary Plan: Interest in device loans (optional). In the case that the proposal is not selected as one of the grant funding recipients, would the PI like to obtain the SGD devices? Briefly describe if/how the proposal would change.
        4. Contact information for primary investigator and all contributors.
        5. Bibliography
