My name is Bobby and I am 24 years old. I graduated from Panther Valley High School four years ago. GO PANTHERS! :) I am Currently attending Lehigh/Carbon Community College majoring in Web Page Development. This Spring semester, I am taking Client Scripting I and I love it. My web address in Client Scripting I is http://www.webdevlccc.com/cis14114/. After I graduate in two years, I would like to work for PenTeleData, a branch of Pencor, or one of several web development companies around the area. I also have the ability to build my own small business.
I was born with a disability called cerebral palsy, also known as CP. CP affects the brain which controls my muscles, so I can't walk or talk. I have an electric wheelchair, which allows me to be independent! I drive my wheelchair with my head, because I have more control with my head than with my hands. My wheelchair also allows me to be a normal adult. I hang out with my great friends every night in the spring, summer and fall down the street and over town. That is cool!
I also have a communication device called "Pathfinder." The Pathfinder acts as my voice. I work the Pathfinder with a headpointer, also known as "The Boinker." It got its name from the sound the Pathfinder makes when the headpointer pushes a button. I also use this device to do my college work.
In addition, I am an ambassador for PRC. This gives me a chance to talk to people about the Pathfinder and show how it works. I really like doing it. It is fun!
Four summers ago, I attended the ACES Camp at Temple University. ACES means Augmentative Communication and Empowerment Supports. At that time I was using a Liberator II. The camp taught me to be more independent and to speak up for myself. I had so much fun talking to other AAC device users. I made two speeches; one was in front of the Liberty Bell, but the best one was at graduation! I would recommend all assistive technology users to look into this ACES Camp at Temple because it really helped me a lot!
For girls who are wondering if am I single, yes, unfortunately I am currently single. I don't date at all. Because I have a disability, people judge me by that. But they shouldn't. They should get to know me first. Yes, there are limitations, but any situation can be worked out. I know one thing--my disability will never hold me back -- ever!
My Future Plans:
