PRC Donates to Local Charities
Employee Owners Give Thanks by Giving Back
Wooster, OH, June 7, 2011 - PRC employee-owners recently presented generous donations to several non-profit organizations. Over the past few years PRC’s Information Technologies (IT) department has offered used computer equipment for sale to employees and the proceeds from those sales went to a different charity each year. This spring the employee-owners were asked to vote on their favorite charity. Proceeds of the sale amounted to over $5500 which was then divided among the top charities according to the percentage of votes they received.
The most significant amount (over $3500) was awarded to the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life. PRC is known locally for its involvement in the Relay for Life and in recent years has raised considerable amounts for the American Cancer Society.
Angelman Syndrome Foundation and Silent Stars Foundation will receive the balance of the donations, each receiving a check for $1000. The Angelman Syndrome Foundation is a national 501(c)(3) organization of families, caregivers, and medical professionals who care about those with Angelman Syndrome. Their mission is to advance the awareness and treatment of Angelman Syndrome through education and information, research, support, and advocacy for individuals with Angelman Syndrome, their families, and other concerned parties. Silent Stars Foundation (SSF) raises awareness and funds for Childhood Apraxia of Speech (CAS), a neurological disorder that interferes with the brain's ability to coordinate the muscle movements required to form words.
