Vocabulary Builder
This session will focus on Vocabulary Builder, a therapeutic tool designed to easily teach new vocabulary in sequenced Unity. To understand Vocabulary Builder, participants should have a basic understanding of Unity prior to the class. The hour long session will provide an overview of the tool including ways to use it in therapy and other activities. It will also explain how to load and merge pre-stored vocabulary sequence sets, mask vocabulary to create new sets (lists) of targeted vocabulary, and save the sets that have been created.
If using a device during this session, it is highly suggested that the software versions are as follows:
Accent version 1.05 or higher
Vantage Lite version 5.06 or higher
ECO2 version 2.07 or higher
For information on how to update your device, please visit our website at: http://www.prentrom.com/support and click on “Software Updates” on the right side of the screen. Select the device and the update and follow the instructions. BE SURE TO DO A MEMORY TRANSFER OF THE DEVICE TO A USB FLASHDRIVE (TAKE A BACKUP) PRIOR TO THE UPDATE!!

SpringBoard Lite: Getting Started
This 2 hour course introduces you to the operation of the SpringBoard Lite and will discuss implementation strategies. Participants will learn how to store text, create, modify and link activities and pages and make a talking photo album.
If your device is any color other than red and has a handle you need to take this SpringBoard Lite training. For those participants using the PASS software, you will need the PASS software that has the date of January 1, 2008 or after.
Learning Outcomes
Participants will be able to:
1. discuss the language options available in the SpringBoard Lite.
2. program a SpringBoard Lite to store text, create, modify and link activities using the full toolbox and simple toolbox.
3. discuss implementation strategies
4. demonstrate how to make a talking photo album

Unity: The Language Behind the Device
PRC believes in providing single words for novel communication in addition to preprogrammed sentences and topic/environment specific vocabulary. This course explains the unique method of organizing and accessing vocabulary for all language levels and addresses the ongoing struggle with the constant need for adding vocabulary. It consists of two segments and will focus on Unity 60, 84, and 144 (found in the ECO, Vantage Lite, Vantage, or Vanguard). In the first segment, you will learn about the vocabulary options, icon features/functions and Unity Patterns 1 and 2. In the second segment you will learn Unity Pattern 3 through 5. Strategies for teaching Unity will be addressed throughout the training.
Learning Outcomes
Participants will be able to:
1. be able to demonstrate understanding of the Minspeak concept for Unity 84 and Unity 128 overlays and icon features and functions.
2. be able to use Unity patterns to construct phrases and sentences
3. be given strategies and resource materials to implement Unity 84 and Unity 128 language programs.
This program is offered for 0.4 CEUs (Introductory level, Professional area). Participants need to take both parts consecutively in order to get credit. See course handouts for instructions and the ASHA CEU Participant form.

Accent/ECO2/Vantage Lite: Where Do I Begin?
This training reviews the Unity vocabulary options that are available in the Accent 1200, ECO2 and Vantage Lite. Following the Unity review, you will have a better idea of the most appropriate starting point for the person using the device. In addition to learning about Unity, you will learn how to switch between Unity programs, customize Unity, save those customizations and lock the toolbox. The training will conclude with an overview of resources available to you from PRC.
To attend this training you must have the correct software version. If you are bringing an Accent 1200, you will need Nuvoice software version 1.03 or higher. If you are bringing an ECO2 you will need software version 3.01.1 or higher. If you are bringing a Vantage Lite device, you will need software version 5.10.
Learning Objectives:
Participants will learn to
• explain the language programs in the Eco 2 3.01.1, Vantage Lite 5.10, Accent 1200 Nuvoice 1.03
• navigate between the existing user areas
• customize the device to the device user’s needs
• save the device customizations
• lock the toolbox
• list available resources and support materials
