Molly Littleton - Slovakia Trip

Donated SpringBoards Assist Teachers and Therapists in Slovakia

Molly Littleton - Slovakia TripWe were glad to be of assistance when Molly Littleton, Director of the Assistive Technology Center at Signal Center in Chattanooga, Tennessee, approached PRC for a SpringBoard donation to take on her recent trip to Slovakia.

Bryon College, the Downtown Rotary Club of Chattanooga, and Signal Center recently sponsored the trip to Slovakia for Molly Littleton and Michele Valadie from Signal Center. The purpose of the trip was to learn about the special education system in Slovakia as well as share information with their therapists and teachers. Of course, since it is the 21st century, technology played a key role during the trip.

Molly Littleton - Slovakia TripAccording to Mrs. Littleton, "Prentke Romich Company was a major contributor to the success of the trip. They donated two SpringBoard communication devices for us to give to the Children's Integration Centre in Trnava. On May 1st which was a national holiday in Slovakia, several teachers and speech therapists came together for a picnic. After a feast, they spent three hours learning about the SpringBoard. Those professionals demonstrated an amazing dedication to empowering children with communication disabilities in Slovakia. They eagerly fell on the SpringBoards and programmed them in Slovak. The teachers and therapists were overwhelmed by the sincere gift of such expensive equipment from Prentke Romich Company."

Mrs. Littleton continued, "PRC helped make this trip unforgettable. The generous donation of the two SpringBoards will help many children in Slovakia."

PRC would like to congratulate Molly Littleton on her recent honor of receiving the Thomas Morales Leadership in Accessible Technology Award. The national award from the Alliance for Technology Access - only one is presented per year - was presented to Mrs. Littleton at the organization's 20th anniversary celebration in Los Angeles.

Barry Romich Leads the Sustainable Energy program in Wayne County, Ohio

Barry RomichBarry Romich, co-founder of PRC and founder of the Romich Foundation, is taking a leading role in Wayne County, Ohio promoting the use of sustainable energy for our community and the entire nation.

To quote the Romich Foundation website: "One of the major areas of interest to Romich Foundation is energy. It is clear that we must change the way we live for the benefit of future generations. We must plant trees, the shade of which we do not plan to enjoy.'" The Romich Foundation is supporting local, state, and national initiatives aimed at reducing the use of imported gas and the general use of fossil fuels for transportation and energy generation.

Suns

In a recent visit to PRC, students from a summer program at the College of Wooster enjoyed a presentation from Barry on the topic of sustainable energy -- just one of many presentations Barry has given in Wayne County in recent months.
