20 Questions

Title: 20 Questions

Description of Activity: In this activity, one person thinks of an object or selects a picture. The other people ask yes-no questions about it until they determine what it is. Remember all questions must be answered with only "YES" or "NO". The only exception is that if the person answering the questions really doesn't know the answer, he/she may answer with "I don't know" or "sometimes".

Materials: You might want to have pictures of common objects for students who can't think of an object. The following cheat sheets are for the current Vanguard / Vantage software (version 4.0 or higher).

Objective: To ask yes / no questions.

Target Vocabulary:  Core words - verbs, adjectives, pronoun phrases.

Sample Words and Phrases: Is it big? Is it little? Is it red? Can it go? Can it turn? Does it eat?

Adaptations: If needed, provide pictures of common objects. See who can guess with the fewest questions.
