Sixth International Symposium on AAC Evidence-Based Practice (EBP) Literacy, Language, and AAC
The Sixth International Symposium will be held June 13-14, 2008 at the Sheraton Station Square in Pittsburgh, PA. By popular request, a poster session has been added to the schedule. The deadline for submission is March 1, 2008 and the Call for Posters instructions can be found at http://www.aacinstitute.org/Symposium/2008/PosterSession.html. Any stakeholder is invited to submit a proposal that reflects applying external (research-based) evidence, internal (clinical-based) evidence and/or personal evidence related to literacy, language, and AAC. The agenda and registration form can be found at http://www.aacinstitute.org/Symposium. CEUs are available to attendees through the AAC Institute at no cost.
Clinical AAC Research ConferenceThe 2008 CAAC, hosted by University of Virginia in Charlottesville, will be held September 25-27, 2008. The Call for Papers deadline is May 1, 2008. Conference participation is limited to authors of accepted proposals plus graduate students of accepted authors.
Student Scientific Paper Award has been added to the CAAC Research Conference. Student recipients receive a certificate and a $400 honorarium for first place and $200 for second place. The deadline for submission is May 1, 2008. The criteria of the award sponsored by the AAC Institute can be found at the conference site.
Free Train-the-Trainer Seminars to be Held
Easter Seals Project ACTION is holding free nationwide train-the-trainer seminars titled, "People on the Move: Using All Transportation Options (ADA and Beyond...)" to offer basic tools needed to expand community transportation options for people with disabilities. The anticipated use of the training and the toolkit offered is to teach individuals to use fixed-route public transportation, train transportation personnel to serve customers with disabilities, and identify and fix environmental barriers that prevent access and use of public transit.
