PRC Introduces NuEye™ Tracking System, Most Precise Eye Gaze System Developed for Accent™ 1200
New Accessory for PRC’s Accent™ 1200 Gives Users Complete Visual Control of their AAC Device
Wooster, OH, August 24, 2012 – Prentke Romich Company (PRC), the leading developer of augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) technology for individuals with speech disabilities, announced today the release of NuEye™ Tracking System, a powerful new accessory for the company’s new Accent™ 1200 device.
Attaching the NuEye Tracking System to the Accent 1200 speech-output device gives users the ability to operate the communication device’s robust capabilities using just their eyes. Keys are “selected” by gazing for a specified period of time to generate speech. When used with an integrated Accent 1200, NuEye enables users to send emails, browse the Internet, post on social networking sites, and more.
Developed in partnership with SensoMotoric Instruments GmbH (SMI) of Germany, a global leader in eye tracking technology for more than 20 years, the NuEye Tracking System offers:
Accuracy and precision: NuEye automatically determines optimal single- or double-eye tracking strategy based on user capabilities and environmental factors. It also accommodates eyeglasses and contact lenses;
Multiple calibration options: Zero, 1, 2, 5, and 9 point calibration options support increased accuracy as the user’s eye control improves;
Easy mounting: NuEye attaches in seconds to PRC’s Accent 1200 and requires no head-mounted equipment;
Versatility: A large track-box area accommodates a wide range of head movement;
Portability: Small, lightweight, and compact, NuEye is designed to go anywhere and offer very low power consumption.
“Our NuEye Tracking System offers adults and children hands-free, switch-free access to our new Accent 1200,” stated David L. Moffatt, PRC President. “NuEye is highly accurate, precise, and easy to use. With NuEye, individuals with limited or declining physical abilities, such as those with ALS, can use their eyes to communicate and interact with others.”
