Robby Fisher I am writing to you about who I consider to be a Hero of ACC. My stepson, Robby Fisher, is 15 and uses a Pathfinder to communicate. He has been using a PRC communication device since he was four and he will be the first to tell you that, if you were to ask him about his Pathfinder. He loves to demonstrate all the things he can do with his Pathfinder. He is very patient with all the questions that he is often asked about his device. Robby explains that he began using a communication device when he was four years old and that it is his voice. He explains to people that he can record with it and that he uses it to perform a very important job. Robby is the announcer for the Saint Louis Variety Children's Charity Chorus. He has been participating in their telethon for many years announcing the songs for the Chorus along with Bob Eubanks, Vince Gill and all of the many other celebrities that have been so generous to donate their time to Variety over the years. He announced the ground breaking of the Dennis and Judith Jones inclusive playground in Forest Park as well as the ribbon cutting. Robby is also the announcer for the Northwest High School Chorus and last year announced the performance of “God Bless America” at a Cardinals game at Busch Stadium. Robby's Pathfinder gives him great confidence that he can do anything that a verbal person can do. He was even a guest speaker for the Disabilities Studies Department at Saint Louis Community College at Forest Park, where he demonstrated his Pathfinder and told the class that because of it, his cerebral palsy does not hold him back from all of the many activities that he enjoys. As we left the college that night, he was grinning from ear to ear and proudly said, “I went to college!” Robby has also performed at the White House with the Variety Chorus and was the Best Man in our wedding where he gave the toast with his Pathfinder. Robby has faith that can move mountains and truly believes that there is nothing he can't accomplish. Without his Pathfinder, he would not have the ability to be such an inspiration to others. He has truly inspired me. He is my hero. Nominated by: Deanna Hartlage-Fisher, Robby’s stepmother
