David Chapple
Two PRC employees nominated David Chapple as an AAC Hero. Both Lori and Janie consider David their “friend and co-worker.”David Chapple is a fine example of an AAC Hero! David has a list of accomplishments that puts him into “hero” status and we are glad to nominate him in that category. David uses the internal Tracker in the Pathfinder Plus. Any headpointing system takes a lot of time to master for the accuracy needed for selecting. David has mastered it and is a very fast communicator. In 1994, David graduated from Cleveland State University with a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Computer, and Information Science and a Minor in Communications. He continues to educate himself by attending additional classes, including graduate courses in computer science. In January of 1996, David started as an ambassador for PRC. David has a great sense of humor, which makes working with him a pleasure. He has been a Remote Troubleshooter for PRC service since 2000. As a troubleshooter, his primary responsibility is to return after-hours customer calls regarding technical service. In addition to his years of service at PRC, David has worked as a computer assistant, programmer, and software engineer for various companies around Northeast Ohio. The Pathfinder gives David the freedom to travel and have a very social life. He loves to travel! David is also a homeowner, which helps with his independence. He loves to attend concerts and sporting events in Cleveland (Cavs and Indians). He has attended various conferences in the AAC field including The Biennial Pittsburgh Employment Conference for Augmented Communicators Employment and Community Interaction. Another area of interest for David is leading a community activity group for people who use AAC, called ACTIVE (Augmentative Communicators That Initiate Vibrant Entertainment). David proves to be a very dedicated member of society and we are proud to have him in the PRC family. David is passionate about life and his attitude reaches others in a very powerful way. Submitted by Lori Hamlin and Janie Burgan, PRC.
