Makayla Stormer In a ceremony held at 2 p.m. Thursday, December 7 at Prentke Romich Company (PRC) headquarters, Ida Sue School student Makayla Stormer received a free PRC Vantage Plus. Makayla is six years old and has a diagnosis of autism.
Ida Sue School speech language pathologist Patti Dolges, recommended Makayla as one of PRC's "40 for 40" program recipients. The Ida Sue School, which is governed by the Wayne County Board of MRDD, provides a wide range of academic, therapeutic, and social and vocational services to over 150 children and young adults with disabilities.
Makayla was able to borrow a Vantage for a short period of time for trial. Makayla is a fast learner as she was quickly able to figure out how to make the device sing, "I'm a Little Tea Pot."
Patti Dolges (SLP) wrote, "Makayla has blossomed in her speech and language abilities since the introduction of the Vantage and Vanguard. With the Vantage, she can communicate to everyone in her environment, play games with her peers, and interact with others in a way that she never has before."
